Online Chocolate Hills Guide

The world famous cone shaped Chocolate Hills are some of the most picturesque sites in the world. These Chocolate Hills create an unusual geological formation giving an impression that half of the ball is grown out of the ground. These marvelous hills are spread over the area of about 50 square kilometers and are about 1776 in numbers.

This World Heritage Site and the nation’s third National Geological Monument are actually limestone hills which are entirely covered with grass. The shapes of the hills are uniform and the height ranges from 30 meter to 50 meter and the height of the largest dome shaped hill is about 120 meters. These hills are named as ‘Chocolate Hills’ as during the dry season the lush green covering of grass turns chocolate brown. There is no solid proof of reason for the formation of hills but there is a peculation that the hills are formed due to the uplift of coral deposition and continuous action of erosion and rain water.

This is one of the most favored tourist destinations and your tour will become incomplete unless you visit Chocolate Hills. Most of the tourist guides and tour operators will certainly take you here during your tour to Philippines.
